Ocean 8 Verve Chardonnay 2016

Mornington Peninsula, VIC – AUS

The 2016 wine has soft white peach complimenting a backbone of crisp grapefruit acidity & lemon curd texture. The style is lean & clean with balance and length. The fruit is picked 1 week earlier than any other vineyard & only old barrels are used for vinification to highlight the vibrancy of the fruit from our vineyard.

Craiglee Chardonnay 2017

Sunbury, VIC – AUS

It is the closest wine we have in Australia to Chablis. This wine is pure, lean, mineral and uncluttered by oak.

Craiglee Vineyard is now operated by Patrick Carmody and his family. Patrick planted vines on the site of the original vineyard in 1976 and processed the first wine in 1979. The first commercial quantity was released in 1982 with the 1980 shiraz.

Farr Rising Chardonnay 2017

Geelong, VIC – AUS

The wine typically has citrus blossom, which lifts the well-integrated fruit and wet stone aromatics of this wine. The palate shows great drive, racy acidity, moving towards fine mineral elements.

Chardonnay with understated power, length and subtlety from a very textured site with great balance.

Milton Vineyards Chardonnay Opou Vineyard 2017

Gisborne – NZ

Organic / Biodynamic

There is an immediate eye appeal which is shining and the floral aromas of orange and white blossom together with honeyed notes and nutty acorns which lead into a clean fresh yet soft complexity. It smells like yellow and tastes like the words from AA Milne.

With time in the glass the taste progresses towards a long and rounded mouth texture clipped with cleansing acidity and framed by silken tannins. It is soft and appealing and the mouth flavours have not been altered with any additional fining from animal products so it is an honest expression from our place to your face. Enjoy.

Domaine Talmard Macon Chardonnay 2017

Mâconnais, Burgundy – FR

Chardonnay grown in the village of Chardonnay! This a crisp and bright Chardonnay from the Southern Burgundian region of Mâconnais.

The wine has overtones of peach and a slight creamy texture with a solid dose of minerality drawn from its limestone rich vineyard.

Domenica Chardonnay 2016

Beechworth, VIC – AUS

Pale green / gold colour. The nose displays the grapefruit and white peach typical of the region and vineyard. Aniseed and matchstick barrel ferment characters are present, though not obtrusive. The entry to the palate is deceptively fine, a stony acidity precedes a broadening in the mid palate where the chardonnay fruit characters become dominant.

The wine is made to reward time in the cellar, in it’s youth some oxygen contact, and increasing temperature will assist the palate to show it’s true depth. Drink it with seafood.

Domaine Vincent Girardin Meursault ‘Narvaux’ 2016

Meursault, Burgundy – FR

Bright yellow. Pure peach on the nose. Then much more lemony and quite dry in the mouth–even a bit shocking following the nose. Saline minerality and a hint of crushed stone are joined by a faintly lactic quality. Finishes slightly tart and spiky; this wine, made from an “almost normal” crop level of 40 hectoliters per hectare, will need a bit of time to fill in.

Dalwhinnie Moonambel Chardonnay 2013

Moonambel, VIC – AUS

This is the 29th vintage and what a wine! The colour has light gold hues, clear and shiny. On the bouquet there is an amazing ripe pear character intertwined with exotic spices and vanilla. The palate tells a beautiful story of the warmer season giving wonderful texture and mouth-feel balanced by subtle Vosges Burgundy oak. The ripe pear and peach fruit flavours carry beautifully, long and harmonious. Reminiscent of the stunning 2000 vintage. Drink 2015 – 2020.

Domaine Pignier Cuvee A La Percenette Chardonnay 2016

Cotes du Jura – FR

The plot known as ‘A la Percenette’ is a mixture of calcareous marls and blue-grey clay. This cuvee spends 12 months in barrel (these are used barrels from Coche-Dury and are four to five years old) and is regularly topped up to ensure the wine avoids a film of yeast. It has lots of white stone fruit characters on the nose with struck match and vanilla notes. The palate is round and voluptuous but finishes with a pithy minerality that keeps it very fresh. Shaw & Smith M3 Chardonnay 2017

Adelaide Hills, SA – AUS

Aiming for elegance, restraint and the ability to age, acid is bright and there’s generosity of flavour. Typically it shows white flowers, citrus, and nectarine notes.

Silkman Wines Reserve Chardonnay 2017

Hunter Valley, NSW – AUS

The Silkman style of Chardonnay now sets a benchmark for the Hunter and further afield. The wine is delicate and elegant with restrained use of beautiful French oak. The lean, mineral fruit characters are underpinned by excellent oak and acid structure and there is an excellent persistence of flavour. Simply gorgeous.

Dog Point Chardonnay 2016

Marlborough, NZ

The 2016 Chardonnay is an absolutely thrilling drink – and perhaps it is no coincidence that this year’s Dog Point releases – the 2016 Chardonnay, 2016 Pinot Noir, 2016 Section 94 oaked Sauvignon and 2018 Sauvignon Blanc – are the first that are all certified organic.

‘Definitely not shying away from matchstick on the nose, but it costs one heck of a lot less than a Coche wine. Very crystalline with good fruit focus on the mid palate. Very far from sweet. Crisp and rewarding. Great balance and fans out on the finish.’ I gave it 17 points out of 20 and suggest drinking it 2018–23″. Jancis Robinson

Cullen ‘Kevin John’ Chardonnay 2017

Margaret River, WA – AUS

Brilliant pale gold with perfumed notes of pears, white flowers and citrus which are lifted by the barrel ageing. The palate is very fine and already complex, combining Anjou pear, white nectarine and some almond notes. Wonderfully balanced by the natural acid structure. One of Australia’s greatest Chardonnay wines
